1 Dead, 1 Critically Injured in Denton County Crash Involving Ford Pickup and Mercedes

DENTON COUNTY, Texas – At least one person is dead following a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Denton County, according to police.

The Lake Dallas Police Department responded around 3 p.m. to the 600 block of North Stemmons Freeway Service Road, where a gray Ford pickup was traveling northbound and entered the left U-turn lane, intending to loop back under I-35E.

However, police said the truck continued straight and struck the raised lane divider separating the eastbound lanes of W. Swisher Road from the U-turn lane. The pickup then crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a white Mercedes heading westbound on W. Swisher Road.

The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the Ford pickup was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Authorities say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
