El Paso, Texas Two people from the United States of America were taken hostage outside of a well-known pub and restaurant in Juarez, Mexico, and they were liberated.
At approximately nine o’clock on Friday evening, two young Americans were kidnapped and transported to a residence in the Manuel J. Cloutier neighbourhood, where they were detained for nearly three days, as stated in a press statement issued by the Attorney General’s Office of the state of Chihuahua.
The Chihuahua state police have stated that there was at least one witness present during the suspected kidnapping that took place. The event took place on Avenida de las Americas, which is located perfectly in the middle of the PRONAF entertainment zone. There was no information provided regarding the restaurant’s name; however, it was described as a well-known establishment.
Following the discovery of the kidnapping, the Specialised Prosecutor’s Office for Strategic Operations said that its anti-kidnapping section initiated an investigation. This investigation was carried out in coordination with the Secretary of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
In the course of the inquiry, the authorities were able to locate a residence in South Juarez, which was the location of not only the two Americans but also three additional migrants who were being held for ransom.
According to the investigators, the migrants, who were a woman from China, a woman from southeastern Mexico, and a man from Guatemala, displayed signs of violence on their necks, attempted strangulation, and cuts on their ears. Their captors reportedly inflicted these cuts on their ears with knives in order to exert pressure on their families to pay the ransom.
Three individuals who were described as guards were also taken into custody by the authorities at the residence. They were identified by the police as Daniel Fermín B.R., also known as “El Mou,” who was 22 years old; Marco Irving G.L., also known as “El Toro,” who was 18 years old; and Omar Ricardo L.F., also known as “El Lazca,” who was 22 years old. These three firearms, which the police claim were used to threaten people who were being held captive, were also taken into custody.
After obtaining a court order, the police were able to apprehend a fourth person, identified as “El Coquito,” who is 22 years old and goes by the name Cristian Eirin S. M. At the time of the investigation, he was reportedly carrying ransom money. Kidnapping accusations have been brought against all four of them.
D.R.O. and J.C.L. were the sole initials that were used to properly identify the two American citizens.
According to a statement released by the Attorney General’s Office, the organisation “reaffirms its commitment to combat the crime of kidnapping with the full force of the state, to capture and bring those responsible to justice, and to provide certainty and peace of mind to the victims and their families.”
