3 Oregon Ducks named baseball All-Americans

Oregon outfielder Mason Neville, starting pitcher Grayson Grinsell and first baseman Jacob Walsh have been named All-Americans.

Neville earned first-team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, which recognized Grinsell and Walsh on the third team — the most Ducks to be named NCBWA All-Americans in a single season. Neville was also a second-team selection and Grinsell was a third-team selection by Perfect Game.

A semifinalist for both the Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award, Neville finished the season tied for the national lead in home runs (26). UO’s center fielder hit .290, with a program record .724 slugging percentage and tied for the school record with 67 runs scored.

Oregon’s Friday night starter, Grinsell (9-3, 3.01 ERA) had 101 strikeouts in 98 2/3 innings this season while holding opposing hitters to a .205 average. In Big Ten games, he led the conference in wins (seven), ERA (1.36), batting average against (.167) and WHIP (0.86), while ranking second in strikeouts (70).

It’s the first career All-America honor for Walsh, who led UO with 60 RBIs and hit .332 with 19 home runs.
