5-star edge rusher Richard Wesley decommits from Oregon

A fifth prospect from Oregon’s recruiting class for 2026 has withdrawn.

Richard Wesley, a five-star edge rusher, decommitted from UO on Tuesday, according to several reports. Wesley committed to the Ducks earlier this month after seeing a video of himself and Dan Lanning jumping into a pool.

In addition to Texas A&M and Tennessee, the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Wesley is expected to have official visits to Ohio State, Texas, and UO.

The 247Sports Composite ranks Wesley, who reclassified from the class of 2027, as the 2026 class’s No. 2 edge rusher and No. 14 overall athlete.

Last fall, Wesley recorded 44 tackles (16 for loss), nine sacks, and three forced fumbles. He was named a MaxPreps All-American as a sophomore.

During his first two seasons at Sierra Canyon High School in California, he had 19 sacks and 99 tackles.

With seven commits in its 2026 class, Oregon fell from No. 18 to No. 27 in the 247Sports rankings but is now ranked fourth per prospect after Wesley’s departure.

He is the most recent UO decommitment of this cycle, joining four-star quarterback Jonas Williams (USC), five-star offensive lineman Kodi Greene (Washington), and four-star defensive linemen Tomuhini Topui (USC) and Bott Molitalo (BYU).
