Authorities are asking some residents to evacuate after a brush fire broke out Wednesday afternoon near Mosier.
The
Wasco County Sheriff’s Office
issued a Level 3 “Go Now!” evacuation order about 5 p.m. for the area of Cherry Hill Drive and Kingdom Street in Mosier.
The brush fire was reported an hour earlier near the Columbia River Gorge town about 60 miles east of
Portland
, according to the sheriff’s office.
Fire officials said the blaze was about 2.5 acres. It was reported just south of town above the retirement center.
Areas immediately east and west of the Level 3 area from First Avenue to Kingdom Street and a small stretch between U.S. 30 and State Road are under a Level 2 order to get ready to evacuate.

that the Mosier Plateau Trail is closed.
