Late night I-5 drivers through downtown will see detour Thursday, early Friday

Utility work on power lines that cross Interstate 5 will close the freeway 11 p.m. Thursday through 4 a.m. Friday, June 12-13 in the downtown Portland area.

Drivers in both directions will be detoured onto Interstate 405 to get around the closure. Drivers on Interstate 84 westbound will be sent south at I-5 and will need to use I-405 northbound to access northbound I-5 during the closed hours.

Pacific Power will be installing a new power line that crosses the freeway near Northeast Broadway in the area of the Moda Center.

Travelers should expect some delays and slow down, watching for crews on the freeway and detour signs.
