Authorities are asking some residents to evacuate after a
fire broke out Wednesday afternoon
along Interstate 84 near Rowena.
The Wasco County Sheriff’s Office issued a Level 3 (go now) evacuation order around 2:30 p.m. for people living by Rowena River Ferry Road, a stretch of I-84 and U.S. 30 to Discovery Road.
I-84 is also closed in both directions between Mosier and The Dalles from milepost 64 to 82, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The sheriff’s office reported the fire shortly after 1:30 p.m. Deputies ask people to use caution if they are in the area.
