Central Catholic linebacker announces Big Sky commitment

One of Oregon’s best linebackers is going to college a little further south.

Donnie Vercher of Central Catholic revealed his commitment to the University of California, Davis on social media on Thursday.

According to 247, Vercher, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker and edge rusher, is a three-star prospect.In Oregon’s class of 2026, Sportsand is ranked as the 14th best recruit.

In addition, he had offers from Dartmouth, Penn, Portland State, Idaho, and the Air Force.

Vercher was a member of the 2023 Class 6A state championship team and has helped guide Central Catholic to a 34-3 overall record over the last three seasons.

He had two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 56 tackles, and 16 tackles for loss in his junior year. He received an all-state honorable mention and was selected to the first team of the league.

In their first season under head coach Charlie Landgraf, Central Catholic finished 11-1 and undefeated in the Mount Hood Conference in 2024. The Rams’ season ended in a 33-24 loss to Lake Oswego in the state playoffs.

The Aggies finished second in the Big Sky after an 11-3 season. After defeating Illinois State 42-10 in the second round and losing to South Dakota 35-21, UC Davis advanced to the FCS National Tournament.
