Amazon’s largest warehouse in the Northwest is located south of the Woodburn interchange and west of Interstate 5.
Amazon’s $500 million warehouse is three times larger than the Lloyd Center mall in Portland, making it one of its largest locations.
Massive volumes of parcels entering and leaving the 3.8 million-square-foot facility are coordinated by robots, software, and artificial intelligence.
With 1,500 workers, 6,000 robots, and 30 miles of conveyors, the Amazon Fulfillment Center operates around the clock.
Up to 40 million products can be stored on the Woodburn location, which Amazon refers to as PDX8.
Packages are shipped to clients in Washington, Idaho, and all around Oregon from the massive new warehouse, which is easily seen along Interstate 5 just south of the Woodburn outlet mall. At the location, which is 30 miles south of Portland’s downtown, they arrive and depart in large, long-haul trucks.
Amazon anticipates having around 2,800 employees there in the future. During the holidays, the number of employees will increase to 3,500.
