A lady from Texas has been indicted for allegedly plotting to kill her ex-husband by putting fentanyl into a box of chocolates and sending it to him disguised as a gift from a travel agency. The conspiracy was believed to have been carried out by the woman.
Pamela Jean Stanley, 63, a resident of Coleman, is being charged with various offenses, including the following, according to the authorities:
- To solicit criminal activity with the intention of committing homicide
- Attempt to commit murder in a criminal manner
- Intention to supply a restricted substance while in possession of the substance
A sham honeymoon offer is a part of the scheme
According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, Stanley was overheard telling an informant that she intended to make the package appear as though it was a celebration of her ex-husband’s recent engagement.
The present was supposed to include a phony “honeymoon” incentive offer in order to make the falsehood more convincing.
An undercover operation results in an arrest
It was a tip from a “protected source” that led detectives to pose as fentanyl sellers, according to the authorities involved.
According to the allegations, Stanley traveled from Coleman for a considerable amount of time in order to meet with undercover investigators in the parking lot of a motel located along the highway.
According to the authorities, she was brought into jail after making an effort to purchase what she initially thought was fentanyl.
Officials believe that methamphetamine was also discovered.
In addition to the alleged plot to commit murder, Stanley was discovered to be in possession of 9.5 grams of methamphetamine at the time of her arrest, according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office.
This past Thursday, Stanley was indicted. $450,000 has been determined as the amount of her bond.
