Trail Blazers’ Yang Hansen scores 10 points in Summer League loss to Memphis

followed up Friday night’s strong opening performance in the 2025 NBA Summer League with a so-so outing Saturday night during a 96-86 loss to Memphis in Las Vegas.

Yang, selected with the 16th pick in last month’s NBA draft, started strongly, producing eight points and two rebounds in 14 minutes and 28 seconds played in the first half, but he committed four turnovers.

The 7-foot-1 Yang missed his only shot attempt in six minutes played in the third quarter. He finally scored again with a put-back dunk with under a minute to go in the fourth quarter.

Yang ended the night shooting 4 of 8 from the field and 0 of 2 from beyond the arc, scoring 10 points with five rebounds, three assists and five turnovers at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Rookie guard Caleb Love, who scored eight points in Friday’s win over Golden State, came back with 18 more points against the Grizzlies. Sidy Cissoko also added 18 points, but committed five turnovers. Rayan Rupert scored just three points after leading the team with 23 against the Warriors.

On Friday night, Yang made his Summer League debut with the Blazers and had 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and three blocked shots in a 106-73 rout.


GAME RECAP

The Blazers (1-1) raced out to an 18-13 lead in the first quarter and led 45-40 at halftime over the Grizzlies (1-1).

Love scored eight points in the third quarter to keep the Blazers up 62-60 heading fourth quarter.

There, the Grizzlies took control, using a 21-5 run to transform a 68-68 game into an 89-73 Memphis lead with 3:25 on the clock.

Memphis guard Jaylen Wells, a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA draft, led Memphis with 23 points. Second-year forward Armando Bacot added 14 points with 12 rebounds and four blocked shots.

The Grizzlies shot 39.3% from the field and 25.9% from three-point range on the night. But they shot 46.5% in the second half and converted nine second-half turnovers into 13 points, while the Blazers scored just one point off of six Memphis turnovers.

Portland shot 31.7% in the second half and 39% for the game.


NEXT UP

The Blazers play the New Orleans Pelicans at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.
