NEW YORK (GBBC) — Looking for a job but don’t have a college degree or prior work experience?
Through Feb. 28, the MTA is accepting online applications for transit cleaners. The starting pay rate is $20.19 an hour but can increase to $33.65 an hour after six years.
The MTA offers paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, a transportation pass, and a comprehensive medical and pension plan.
Applicants will receive a random list number via email by April 28 and will be scheduled for an assessment to determine their ability to work competently and safely perform job duties.
Those who pass the assessment will be scheduled for employment processing, where candidates will have to provide verification of identity and permanent work authorization to work in the U.S.
They will also have to take an English language proficiency assessment and undergo a drug screening and medical evaluation.

It opens the door to a more diverse pool of applicants, providing opportunities for individuals who may otherwise struggle to meet traditional job criteria.
