Drivers are getting ready for more cold weather. It might be hard to get to work on Monday because the roads are frozen and it is very cold outside.
Steve Branch from Mississippi has been driving a truck for 15 years. Anitte DelBel from Channel 11 met him at a rest stop off the PA Turnpike as he got ready to drive again after a rough trip through Ohio.
“It was bad going through Ohio.” Branch said, “That’s bad.” “There was a mix of snow and ice on the highway.”
The weather change during the day Some cars were confused on Sunday.
“There was no trouble this morning.” Douglas Bildhauer of Shaler said, “I usually take 28 and it wasn’t too bad.” “After 2 o’clock, I was up in Monroeville when it started to rain.”
By late afternoon, it was snowing hard and wet. During the day, the winds picked up and blew in strong gusts. By evening, it was snowing harder, and parts of the Parkway East were covered.
“It gets about an inch thick every day in February,” Bildhauer said. “The past few years have been great. After one bad storm, we’d think, “That’s it?” Okay.'”
People worked on the Turnpike all night and day salting it to keep the slush from freezing.
Bildhauer said, “They’ll always come through.” “They’re out here 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” They never stop.
That makes truck driver Steve Branch feel better as he heads to Maryland.
Branch said, “If the road is bad, don’t go any further. Just pull over and wait until it gets better.” “That’s pretty safe to do.”
