Police Shoot, Kill Suspect After Stolen Cruiser Crashes on Pa. Turnpike in Beaver County

A wild police pursuit that began in Ohio culminated in a wreck, with the suspect shot by police.

The crash in a stolen police car closed the Pennsylvania Turnpike in North Sewickley Township for several hours.

The eastbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Beaver County remain closed since the situation is still active, with police, first responders, and the coroner present.

The KDKA Drone Team got footage of an Ohio State Patrol car on its roof while on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, it was driven by a man from Ohio, and the incident began with a police chase. Initially, the suspect crashed his vehicle on the Ohio Turnpike. After the crash, a trooper went to check on him, and the suspect battled with him and tried to seize his gun.

According to authorities, the suspect then took the trooper’s vehicle and led officers on a chase across the border into Pennsylvania and onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

He then crashed the stolen cruiser on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, just outside of Homewood Borough in Beaver County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the male was fatally shot.

The inquiry into this occurrence is ongoing.
