Police charged a man with the fatal shooting of another guy in Oak Park on Friday morning.
The Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney’s Office charged Jabari McGee, 20, of Chicago with first-degree murder.
At roughly 1:20 a.m., Oak Park police responded to a report of shots fired at 651 South Boulevard. They discovered a man laying in the street with a gunshot wound.

He was brought to Loyola University Medical Centre and died. The victim was identified as Corey Gates, 54, of South Holland, Illinois.
A witness told police that five males, all dressed in black, fled the site of the shooting. Officers observed a group matching the witness description moving eastbound on Pleasant Street from Cuyler Avenue. Police later apprehended the sixth suspect. Three males, including McGee, and three boys were taken into jail.
The three youngsters were released without charge on Friday. McGee’s charge was granted on Saturday. On Saturday, the other two males were released without charge.
McGee remains in custody pending a bond hearing.
The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
