Cyclist Killed in Route 222 Crash Identified as Anson Burkholder, Driver Now Sentenced

MAIDENCREEK TWP., Pa – The man convicted of causing an accident in 2023 that killed a member of the local Mennonite community has been sentenced.

Moshe Notis, who was convicted by a jury in February, received a sentence of 3 to 10 years in jail last week.

On September 20, 2023, while driving along Route 222 in Maidencreek Township, Notis collided with and killed Anson Burkholder, a cyclist.

Burkholder was killed in the crash, but Notis did not stop to provide medical treatment or remain on the site.

An inquiry identified Notis as a suspect, and investigators said bits of his van were discovered at the site, as well as a clip from the victim’s suspenders in the grille of the striking car.
