SALT LAKE CITY – A Utah woman is living a nightmare after finding herself in a dog’s jaws.
Holly Murphy reported that she was at a friend’s house in Salt Lake City when the attack occurred. She stated that the dog that bit her belonged to a friend and that she was very familiar with the animal.
Tonielle Dunne, Murphy’s daughter, said the attack on her mother made her concerned.
“I don’t know what I would do if she goes,” Dunne remarked. “I’m not ready for that.” Dunne and Murphy both said they enjoy dogs, but following the March attack, they are both on watch.
Murphy claimed she was feeding the dog doughnuts just before the attack occurred.

“I thought he was smiling at me, like laughing and telling me, ‘You’re not out of doughnuts’,” she went on. “Then I realised that lip that was going up was not smiling at me, he was snarling.”
Murphy reported that the attack shattered her jaw in 16 places and wounded her throat.
“I listened to every tooth and every bone in my jaw just crumble,” she told me.
She ended up in the hospital for several weeks.
“They took really good care of me,” she remarked.
She is now out of the hospital and continues to rehabilitate physically and mentally.
“I’ve never been afraid,” Murphy stated. “I’m afraid of everything today.”
Her daughter is considering what lies ahead for her mother, including medical expenditures.
“She got thousands and thousands of dollars in medical bills that she can’t pay,” Dunne told me.
She is also considering remaining cautious around animals.
“I think people need to be more aware of their animals,” Dunne told the crowd. “Keep a better eye on your animal.”
According to Salt Lake County Animal Control, the dog is confined and cared for while the investigation into the attack proceeds.
