CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, two women were transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries following a serious accident on the 3700 block of South Padre Island Drive.
Five children, including a newborn, a one-year-old, and a three-year-old, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
It occurred after another vehicle entering the ramp struck a stalled car on the westbound ramp off Weber Road.
Two women from the stalled car were standing in front of it when the car entering the ramp hit theirs, throwing them out.
The westbound lanes of the interstate were fully closed for over three hours while cops worked the incident, with all traffic redirected to exits at South Staples Street and Weber Road.
The CCPD stated that the highway has now been cleared and reopened.
