Florida Man Stabs Woman After She Criticizes His Kids

A guy from Florida will spend more than ten years in prison for violently stabbing a woman who has criticised his children while they were shopping at a store.

In March, following a trial that lasted over three days in the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida, 20-year-old Jammacar Rodkesh Gayle was found guilty by a jury consisting of his peers.

According to a news statement issued by the state’s attorney, the defendant was given a sentence of twelve years in prison on one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon or causing grave bodily harm. The punishment was handed down with immediate effect.

A significant census-designated city located approximately 30 miles northwest of Fort Myers, Port Charlotte, was the location of the knife attack that took place next to the butcher’s counter at the Milan Supermarket, which is located on Tamiami Trail.

During the shopping trip that took place on June 9, 2023, Gayle, his children, and his ex-wife went to the store and travelled towards the meat section located in the back of the store. An arrest document that was issued by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office states that a woman entered the store at a later time and waited in line to purchase meat at the counter that was located close to the family.

According to the affidavit, “At some point, there is a verbal altercation that ended up being over the behaviour of the children, and the victim said something to [Gayle’s ex-wife], and they ended up arguing.” Gayle took a step back and refrained from getting involved.

After that, the temperature continued to drop for a little period of time.

When the victim had finished collecting half of her meat order, she left the counter and then came back to pick up the other portion, during which time she went past Gayle’s ex-wife.

An further statement is made in the affidavit, which states that “words are exchanged between the two females and [Gayle’s ex-wife] pushes the victim.” “The victim pushes [Gayle’s ex-wife] back, and Gayle steps up to the victim. As she turns around to face him, the victim bumps into Gayle,” the victim said.

Following the victim’s physical contact with the defendant, the two parties eventually engaged in a heated altercation. Finally, according to law enforcement, the victim can be seen on security film slamming Gayle against the meat cooler and going past him. This is the next step in the investigation.

Infuriated, Gayle snatched a cast iron pan off a shelf in the store and swung it at the victim. However, his oldest daughter intervened and took the pan away from her father, as stated in the affidavit. According to the court statement, the defendant did not let this discourage him from grabbing a “packaged 8-foot chef knife from the shelf,” removing the knife from its packaging, and then beginning the attack in earnest.

The detective states in the affidavit, “In the video, I observe Gayle swinging over hand twice at the victim, then twice across the victim, and then twice in an over hand motion again.” This is followed by two more instances of Gayle swinging over hand.

Gayle reportedly ran away to the parking lot after the stabbing, according to the authorities. Although he was gravely injured, the victim continued to pursue him in an effort to take a snapshot of the license plate that was displayed on his vehicle. The woman was threatened once more by Gayle, who continued to brandish the knife before leaving with his family.

Emergencies personnel discovered the victim in a critical condition.

According to what is written in the affidavit, the woman was bleeding heavily from both her head and her abdomen. “While responding deputies were providing first aid to the victim, she informed deputies that she had been attacked by a black male… with a large chef knife that he got from the store shelf after a verbal altercation over the suspect’s uncontrolled children,” the statement reads.

In an interview, the proprietor of the store, who was present during the incident, stated that both the victim and the Gayle family were regular clients of the establishment.

As a result, the woman was ultimately transported by helicopter to a neighbouring hospital, where she underwent treatment that could potentially save her life, as stated by the prosecution.

Simultaneously, Gayle made haphazard attempts to conceal the criminal activity.

According to the press announcement, “He drove to New York after placing his bloody clothes in a trash bag,” and then he drove there. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office was able to determine the identification of the suspect by using security film to determine the make and model of the suspect’s vehicle. Additionally, they were able to use license plate scanners in the vicinity to locate the suspect’s residence and ascertain his identity.

The knife that was used in the attack as well as blood-spattered clothing were discovered still buried in the trash at Gayle’s residence in North Port, which is a medium-sized city located a few miles north of Port Charlotte. This discovery was made after law authorities executed a search order.

The defendant was taken into custody by United States Marshals the next day in the borough of Queens, which is located in New York City, and then extradited back to the state of Florida.
