Boy with Autism Found Tied Up at Child Care Center

A woman from Nevada who arrived to pick up her son, who is nine years old, from a child care center intends to file a lawsuit after discovering that her kid’s hands were bound behind his back.

Kala Hall, whose age was not disclosed, gave an interview to the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas, KLAS, in which she discussed the situation of her son Kody, who was nine years old at the time, when she came to pick him up on March 20. In her statement to the publication, she stated that her son’s hands were chained behind his back when she arrived.

As soon as she discovered him, she stated that he “appeared dead.”

Hall stated to KLAS that “[H]e appeared to me to be dead.” He had his stomach turned around. His mouth was propped open. There was no one who could provide me with an answer, and his head was tilted.

According to Hall, her son has autism but is able to communicate verbally. He was able to communicate with his mother, but he chose not to tell her about what had occurred.

After Hall reported the event to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the department conducted an inquiry into the matter; however, they decided not to proceed with a criminal investigation. Kody was reportedly observed playing with the blanket that was wrapped around him, as claimed by the cops, as reported by KLAS. In an email, the police stated that “evidence does not support the claim that a crime was committed.” KLAS was informed of this information.

KLAS stated in their coverage of the initial police report that authorities did not feel that Kody or a student could have bound the 9-year-old. This was stated in the context of the police report. It was also stated to the police that an employee revealed that the children were playing a game called “cops and robbers.”

Hall implied that she wanted to file a lawsuit against the establishment. Her legal representative, Ramzy Ladah of the Ladah Law Firm, was the one who brought up the allegations of carelessness on the side of the facility’s supervisors and employees. According to what he said to KLAS, the lawsuit was not “just about Kody.” Specifically, it is about ensuring that day cares provide children with the appropriate care and do not mistreat them.

Hall was shown surveillance footage from within the room where Kody was allegedly shackled after she brought the matter to the attention of the investigative section of KLAS. On the other hand, she stated that her son was not visible on the camera. Despite this, it was reported that one of the workers at the facility stated that “she could only see his feet.” However, Hall stated to KLAS that he finds it extremely difficult to believe that she was unable to see him. In addition, Hall said to KLAS that she was under the impression that the same worker was using her mobile device at the time.

KLAS reached out to Cherished Legacy Academy and sent a statement stating that they “acted swiftly to communicate with the family, reported the incident to local authorities, and immediately conducted an internal investigation.” “The licensing board did not indicate any violations related to this incident and authorities have closed their case,” the board said after studying the camera evidence, conducting interviews, and visiting the location of the incident.

An individual who is a spokesman for the Child Care and Development Program in Nevada has verified to KLAS that an investigation into the incident is currently being conducted.
