Motorcyclist Shot and Killed by Newport Beach Police During PCH Traffic Stop

Through the course of a traffic stop that took place along Pacific Coast Highway on Thursday evening, a Newport Beach police officer fatally shot and killed a motorcycle.

It took place along PCH West between Superior Avenue and Hoag Hospital at approximately 9:15 p.m. with the incident. After the motorcyclist became “uncooperative” during the traffic check, the officer allegedly shot him. This information was provided by the Newport Beach Police Department. There was no more information regarding the shooting that was disclosed by the agency. Additionally, the Newport Police Department did not disclose whether or not the motorcycle was armed.

According to the authorities, the biker was transported to the hospital, where he was subsequently confirmed dead. During the incident, the agency reported that none of their officers sustained any injuries despite the circumstances.

As the investigation proceeds, the Newport Police Department intends to provide additional information.
