Man Kills Mother During Alleged 'Exorcism,' Sends Body Photo to Friends: Police

Police in Texas were called to a house after seeing a frightening Snapchat photo of a woman covered in blood. There, they found a man who admitted killing his 58-year-old mother during an exorcism.

Alexander Taylor Valdez, who is 23 years old, is being charged with murder in Fort Worth for the death of his mother Teresita Sayson. A probable cause arrest affidavit obtained that around 1:30 a.m. Friday, the Fort Worth Police Department got a call from an unknown person about a picture that was sent in a group on Snapchat. The caller said the picture was “very worrying” and seemed to show a woman on the ground with red, possibly bloody, marks on her body. The caller then gave police Valdez’s address, saying that he or she took the picture.

The police knocked on the door of the house in the 9900 block of Farmers Branch Street. The statement said that when Valdez answered, police saw that he was covered in blood. He also had what looked like a Bible in his hand and said, “It was an exorcism.” Then he left the house and sat down in a chair on the porch.

He is said to have told the officer, “I was using witchcraft to kill my mom” when asked why he had blood on him. The statement says that when asked if there was anyone else in the house, he said, “There is a dead body in there. It’s my mom.” When police checked the house, they found Sayson lying on the floor of the master bedroom, bloody and with injuries to his face and upper body. The room also had a dead dog.

Police said there was also Sayson’s broken jewelry box in the room, which had blood and hair on it, which made them think it was the murder weapon.

Several of Valdez’s friends were at the scene and told police that he sent them a picture of his dead mother while they were in a group Snapchat. It said that the picture showed the victim, the dead dog, and blood on the wall and rugs.

Valdez was arrested by police, but he refused to answer any questions and asked to speak to a lawyer. Valdez is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
