Good News for Alabama SSI Participants: Two Payments Coming in May, August, October, and December

Due to the peculiarities of the calendar, a number of Alabama residents who are eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will have two payments deposited into their accounts during the first four months of the year 2025. These payments will be sent on the weekends and federal holidays.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) states that payments for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are typically distributed on the first Saturday of each month. The payments, on the other hand, are made on the last business day of the preceding month if the first falls on a weekend or a government holiday. Despite the fact that the change assures that recipients will not be put in a position where they are financially disadvantaged as a result of delays, it also results in two payments being given during the same month.

SSI recipients will get payments in the following formats:

  • Month of May: May 1 and May 30
  • The first and the 29th of August — August
  • 1st and 31st of October: the month of October
  • Beginning on December 1 and ending on December 31

Due to the fact that June 1 is a Sunday, the payment is made on May 30. In the same vein, the second payments for the months of August, October, and December are made ahead of schedule in order to circumvent the Labour Day holiday, the Saturday that marks the beginning of November, and the New Year’s Day holiday, respective.

The recipients should be aware that these double-payment months do not constitute additional funds or bonus checks. This is a crucial point to keep in mind. The Social Security Administration states that the second payment is just an early receipt of the benefit for the next month. Individuals who have received two payments in the month of May, for instance, will not be eligible to receive an SSI payment in the month of June.

The recipient’s birth date determines the timetable on which they get their regular Social Security retirement benefits rather than the other way around. Beneficiaries of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) normally receive their Social Security payment on the third of the month, while their SSI payment is typically received on the first of the month.

Throughout the current and upcoming calendar years, the Social Security Administration (SSA) keeps a comprehensive schedule of benefit payments.
