​Man in Wheelchair Dies After Being Hit by School Bus in North Philly

After a man who was using a wheelchair was struck by a school bus, emergency personnel are currently present at an intersection in Philadelphia.

According to a spokeswoman for the Philadelphia Police Department, the collision took place near the junction of North 5th Street and Lehigh Avenue on April 28 at approximately five minutes before five o’clock in the afternoon.

At the time of the collision, the bus was not carrying any pupils, according to the police authorities.

The individual who was confined to a wheelchair was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 5 o’clock, according to the police.

We are aware of an accident that occurred near the intersection of 5th and Lehigh that involved a school bus and a pedestrian. First responders that are now present are assisting us in our efforts. The school district issued a statement to NBC10 in which it said, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the person who was fatally injured.”

At approximately six minutes before six o’clock in the evening, SkyForce10 flew over the location where a yellow school bus was spotted to be halted in the junction.

There was also a wheelchair which could be seen in front of the vehicle.

An investigation is being conducted by the Crash Investigation Division.
