Authorities believe nurse had sex with stepson, leading to suspension.

According to state records, a Florida lady is facing criminal charges for allegedly having intercourse with her stepson, who is 15 years old. As a result, last week, her nursing license was suspended.

According to records found online, the Florida Department of Health issued an emergency suspension order on Friday morning, temporarily shelving 35-year-old Ocala resident Alexis Von Yates. According to the DOH, she has been practicing as a registered nurse in just one state since 2016.

Court records indicate that Yates was taken into custody last year and faces charges of sexual battery on a victim aged 12 to 16. Supposedly, in July of 2024, she was discovered engaging in sexual relations with her husband’s biological son. Yates was investigated and taken into custody as a result of an anonymous tip.

The victim allegedly told authorities that the sexual activities took place while he was on summer vacation with his father.

That Yates’ father was a lineman who worked long hours is stated in the arrest complaint. While the victim’s stepmother was caring for his younger siblings, he was playing with her. … ‘Hitting’ a THC cartridge while playing a video game together, the two of them started to relax on the couch at 11 p.m. They opted to watch a movie after a few hours.

As the affidavit states, the kid and Yates both found the film to be “boring,” so they diverted their conversation to something else. What reportedly transpired between them is also detailed in the DOH emergency order.

The Department of Health reports that “Ms. Yates told Victim that she was ‘horny,'” according to the order. The victim was found on top of Ms. Yates, according to the order. “Ms. Yates consented to the victim biting her neck and yanking her underwear and shorts down to her ankles.”

Allegedly, Yates and the adolescent had sexual relations. According to the teen’s account to the police, Yates had been making “sexual jokes” for about a week before the event.

Nurses are entrusted with a great deal of responsibility, according to the DOH regulation. Consequently, they must show that they have sound judgment and strong moral fiber. The fact that Ms. Yates had oral and penetrative sex with a minor and/or consented to have sexual relations with a minor shows that she does not have the maturity and integrity to practice nursing.

The Department of Health (DOH) followed by saying that Yates’ continuing nursing practice poses “a risk of immediate, serious danger to the health, safety, and welfare of the public,” which is why she was finally suspended. At the earliest convenience of the state, a process will be initiated to seek “formal discipline” of Yates’ nursing license in Florida.
