Juvenile Driver Arrested After Crash Kills Former HSE Football Star

NOBLESVILLE, Indiana — An arrest has been made for the driver of a car that killed a former Hamilton Southeastern High School football star.

There was an accident on Florida Road near Southeastern Parkway and Interstate 69 on March 1, 2025, at about 9 p.m. who died.

Police think the driver of a 2016 BMW 340 was going south on Florida Road from 113 Street when they tried to pass another car. Police say the teenage driver saw an SUV coming up behind them and tried to avoid a crash by overcorrecting, but instead hit a tree off to the east side of the road. The BMW then caught fire.

Alexander was declared dead at the scene of the crime.

His family told 13News that they got an email Thursday telling them that the driver had been caught. Lawyers told the family that the child had been taken to a youth detention center and that they were going to ask for permission to bring him to adult court.

It was both sad and happy. Alan’s uncle Rahvy Murray said, “All of our hearts are still heavy.” “Mason’s death still shocks me. Even though we still don’t think he’s gone, we need to face the truth.

In the two months since the crash, Alexander’s family has been asking police and lawyers for answers.

“Someone needs to answer for this because he wasn’t driving.” He was a traveler. The car wasn’t on its own. That car was being driven by someone. Where is that person? What took place?” His cousin Adrian Johnson said this at a protest last month.

Murray said that his family knows the fight is not over, even though the news on Thursday was a prayer answered.

“Justice moves slowly and isn’t always quick.” “You need to make sure you do everything right,” he said. “At the end of the day, we want people to be responsible.” The person who was part in this needs to think about what happened and change for the better. We have no bad feelings about him.

The crash has been under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office since April 21. They told the community to “trust the process.” The family of Alexander says they are grateful for all the work the sheriff’s office has done to get them to this point.

“We need to do it right.” “The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department is overseeing the investigation, and we are sure they will do a great job,” Murray said.

The family says they’re in it for the long haul, even if it takes a long time to get justice. Alexander never gave up, so they won’t either.

“Mason got eternity for a five-minute ride, we want to make sure he receives some level of justice,” he said. “Even though he can’t speak, we are speaking for him.”

Alexander got out of Hamilton Southeastern High School early and joined the football team at the University of Pittsburgh just before the crash.

“His pride and joy in being a Panther made us feel the same way about having him as a member of our Pitt family.” “We’ll always love him as a Panther,” Pitt’s football coach Pat Narduzzi said in a post on social media after the crash.
