Life Sentence Possible for Grosse Pointe Man Convicted of Sexually Assaulting Girl Under 13

Robert Allen DeClercq, 72, of Grosse Pointe, was found guilty by a jury in Oscoda County of two charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, person under 13, defendant over 17, which is a crime that carries the possibility of a life sentence.

DeClercq raped a female relative who was under the age of 18 in the restroom of his secondary residence in Fairview Township, which is located in Oscoda County, in the year 2020.

For the assault that occurred in 2020, the required minimum penalty will be 25 years, and the maximum term will be life in prison.

In the 23rd Circuit Court in Mio, the sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place on August 18 at 11 a.m.
