Hughson Deaths Involving Stanislaus Sheriff’s Sergeant Probed as Murder-Suicide

HUGHSON: Two people died in Hughson on Monday. One of them was a sergeant with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office. Modesto police said Monday that the deaths are being looked into as a murder-suicide.

Police said that the two people were Sgt. Daniel Hutsell, 40, and Dinella Hutsell, 37.

On Sunday around 9:30 a.m., one of the Hutsells’ children found them dead in their home. Authorities say that when sheriff’s officers first arrived, they took two children out of the home on Fontana Ranch Road and searched for and found the two dead people.

Modesto police, who are in charge of the investigation, said that preliminary results suggest this was a murder-suicide but they could not give any more information about how the person died.

Hughson is in Stanislaus County, about nine miles southeast of Modesto.
