Mom Leaves 4 Kids Alone in Unlocked Car with Bag of Weed While Drinking at Bar, Police Say

A pair of moms in Arizona tried to tell cops that they had been drinking at a bar and left their kids in the parking lot while they went to the bathroom.

The Glendale Police Department released bodycam footage from March 8 that showed a parking lot getting very rowdy that night. In the post, cops said that around 11 p.m. that night, someone called to say that they saw a small child running around the parking lot by themselves. Police were told by people who were there that they looked for the child’s parents but couldn’t find any other adults.

The kid led the adults to a car with three more little kids inside, two of whom were in car seats.

The person who saw the tape told the police, “This is [child’s name]. We saw her walking up and down here.” “She led us to the car.”

As the police BWC rolled, one officer searched the car and found a big bag of marijuana, which the police claimed in their post. The cop can be heard on the video asking, “Really?” when he sees what he has found. There are tears from kids in the background.

The police said they looked in nearby shops for the parents of the children. The two moms finally got back to their car about 45 minutes after they got to the scene of the crime.

“Hey, your kids have been here for hours,” the cop told one of the women. She replied, “Hours?”

“Where have you been?” asked another cop. “I went in to go to the toilet,” she said.

People told the woman that their young daughter had been seen running around the parking lot and that the kids’ car was not locked.

The second woman also told cops that she was in the bathroom and then “went to Caramel Cookie,” which is another name for the Crumbl Cookies store.

Police kept trying to get the first mother to talk. She finally did and told them that she and her friend “went inside to go to the toilet” and “we first went to the Salt toilet,” which is a reference to the Salt Tacos y Tequila restaurant and bar, according to KPHO, a local CBS outlet.

“You went to Salt?” The police officer said. “You went to a pub.”

The first mother said, “I mean, we did get a drink…” after denying that she did anything but go to the toilet.

The second mother slurred her words and said, “Uhhhhh, 15 minutes ago?” when asked when she got to the bar.

What the first mother said as she tried to explain why she didn’t have her phone with her when she went into the bar made her cry. “Please don’t take my kids away from me.” For real, those are the only things I have. “I know this is really, really bad.”

The police said that both women, whose names were not given, “smelt like alcohol” and spoke slurred that They were both caught. The kids were taken by fire trucks to a nearby hospital.
