Last year, USA Today’s readers picked the “Top 10 wine tasting rooms you need to visit” in the country, and

Élevée Winegrowers

Another Willamette Valley winery,

Élevée

is known for its pinot. Last year, Wine Enthusiast recommended five of the winery’s pinot noirs, with the top pick being the 2021 Departure Pinot Noir. “A dazzling aromatic set of crushed pomegranate seeds, strawberries and sweet pea flowers start the journey off right. Then, a lightning bolt of acidity propels sweet red cherry and bergamot tea flavors that last for a good long while,” the magazine said.

King Estate Winery

One of Oregon’s largest wine producers

, King Estate is near Eugene and earned its own share of accolades from Wine Enthusiast last year. King Estate’s Inscription Pinot Noir took

the No. 1 spot

on the magazine’s list of the 100 best wines under $20.

Kristof Wines

Journalist Nicholas Kristof and his wife Sheryl WuDunn, a business executive, planted eight acres of cider apples and 15 acres of pinot noir and chardonnay vines on the family farm in 2019 and 2020.

Maloof Wines

Maloof makes a variety of wines with a focus on pinot gris. The estate vineyard, which is shared with Fossil & Fawn, has 27 acres of grapes in the northwest corner of the Willamette Valley. The vineyard is the process of being certified as organic. Co-owners Bee and Ross Maloof also run the

No Clos Radio Café

in the Coast Range foothills.

ROCO Winery

Rollin Soles, Argyle Winery’s founding winemaker, and Corby Stonebraker-Soles, former co-owner of Panther Creek, combined their talents and first names into ROCO in Newberg. Last year, they took the No. 1 spot Wine Enthusiast’s list of the 100 best wines of 2024 with their

RMS Brut 10-Year Delayed Disgorgement

, a sparkling wine. It was the first time a Willamette Valley wine has earned the title.

Akiko Shiba is the winemaker at Shiba Wichern.

This winery located in the eastern foothills of the Coast Range is owned by winemaker Akiko Shiba and her husband Chris Wichern. A couple years ago, Alberty picked one of their wines in his list of

“6 Oregon pinot noirs that stand out in a crowd.”

He said, “If you enjoy graceful, balanced wines, you need to get familiar with Akiko Shiba right quick.”

Teutonic Wine Company

Based in Southeast Portland, Teutonic produces Alpine-style wines. “Barnaby and Olga Tuttle’s wines have developed a nationwide following, and rightfully so. The crisp nature of their red wines will bring even the most jaded palate to life,”

Walter Scott

This winery in the Salem area specializes in pinot noir and chardonnay. In March, Backcountry Wine Tasting Room held the

Oregon Pinot Noir Bracket Challenge

and pitted 32 Willamette Valley pinots noirs against each other. The 2021 Walter Scott Sojeau Vineyard Pinot Noir emerged as the champion of the event.
