A Fresh Brew: South Jersey to Get New Coffee Shop on Major Highway

The number of Americans drinking coffee is at its best level in 20 years. It is now the most popular drink in the country.

The 2024 National Coffee Data Trends show that 67 percent of Americans drink coffee every day. From 2023 to 2024, the amount of coffee each person in the US drank each week went up by 4%.

But people who know their coffee know that not all cups are made the same. Not all coffee is the same, just like not all tea, beer, and wine are the same. Like the craft drinks business, small coffee shops that aren’t part of big chains are becoming more popular.

Early this year, Townsquare Media wrote that The Wildwoods would have a new coffee shop this summer. We can now report that another South Jersey coffee shop owned by locals will open soon. This one will be on a busy State Highway.

NJ Route 47 will soon have a new coffee shop.

Route 47 is one of the most popular ways to get from the Philadelphia suburbs to the popular beach towns on the south shore of New Jersey. There are 75.2 miles of state roads that go from Brooklawn in Camden County to Wildwood in Cape May County.

This is one of the busiest roads in South Jersey, and soon there will be a new coffee shop on Route 47 that will be great for both locals and tourists who use it a lot.

On the southbound side of Route 47, next to Mile Marker 12, is where Harbor Coffee House will open this year. For many years, it was a store that sold live crabs and fixed boats.

Harbor Coffee House already has a good spot for customers to park their cars because there is already room for them and the ground is dropped. Posts on social media say that La Colombe Coffee Roasters will be one of their main coffee suppliers.

We don’t have an official date for Harbor Coffee House’s opening yet, but their Instagram account says they will be open “Spring 2025,” and they told their fans this:

“We want to be a staple in our community to bring not only people together but also highlight other local creative businesses through our craft shows we hope to have in the warm summer months. We cannot express how excited and grateful we are to have this space to share coffee, good food, laughs and times together. We don’t have any updates yet for opening date but we are doing our best to make it happen soon.”

I have nothing against Wawa, Starbucks, or Dunkin’, but I like going to a small coffee shop where the people make each cup with love and hard work. Who doesn’t like getting a fresh cup of coffee and helping out their neighborhood?
