A Latino-owned outdoor store is opening in SE Portland around the corner from Next Adventure

When Anibal Rocheta and his wife, Maria Teresa Lopes, left Venezuela as political refugees in 2015, they knew they were leaving familiarity behind — moving to a country where they had no support system and barely spoke the language.

They chose Portland to start anew, Rocheta said, mainly because of the mountains.
