Kentucky basketball icon Anthony Davis had a monster performance Sunday night against the Wizards. Davis put together 55 points on 22 for 30 shooting, adding 3 blocks and 17 rebounds. Throughout the game AD had his way at the rim, tallying 34 points in the paint and multiple 3 point plays close to the basket. LeBron James kept feeding AD near the basket with lobs and passes, and AD kept scoring with near perfect efficiency. In one instance, AD missed a close shot, grabbed his own rebound and slammed it over two separate defenders.
AD is the second former Wildcat to score over 50 in the past week, as Devin Booker did so last week in a much different fashion. All reports are pointing towards AD putting his name in the hat for MVP race, as his recent resurgence has him catching up to frontrunner Jayson Tatum. Coming off multiple lingering injuries over the last couple of seasons, Davis’s last seven games average 34.7 points per game, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks. He hopes to keep up the MVP pace Tuesday against the Cavs.
