Because she was found guilty of engaging in inappropriate behavior with her son’s friend who is 13 years old, a mother from Texas is currently serving her Mother’s Day behind bars.
According to the documents filed with the court, Natalie Sorrells, who is 46 years old, was found guilty of two counts of indecency with minor sexual behavior, but she was found not guilty of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. According to the documents, Sorrells was given sentences of two and a half years in jail for each of the charges that she was found guilty of. This means that she will spend a total of five years behind bars. Rockwall County, which is located in the Dallas region, is the location where the alleged incidents took place in the year 2023.
When the victim’s mother discovered deleted texts between him and Sorrells, in which she purportedly referred to him as “babe,” the police began their investigation, as stated in a probable cause arrest affidavit that was obtained by the local Fox affiliate KDFW. A few weeks later, the youngster disclosed to his mother that Sorrells had sexually assaulted him.
The Rockwall Children’s Advocacy Center was the location where the boy was brought in for a forensic interrogation by the police. He provided the investigators with information regarding other incidents in which she inappropriately touched him. It was specifically stated in the affidavit that the victim detailed two instances in which they had sexual contact with one another. The first instance occurred in a car after she had picked him up from a football game, and the second instance occurred during her son’s birthday party.
During one of the sessions, the victim reportedly informed detectives that Sorrells’ spouse contacted her and asked if she was cheating on him. This information was supposedly provided by the victim. A further allegation made by the victim was that Sorrells frequently purchased tobacco and drink for him and his pals.
Officers took Sorrells into custody in February of 2024. Prior to securing bond, she was incarcerated for a period of six days. It was not possible to get in touch with her attorney for a comment right away.
When Sorrells was taken into custody, she was serving as a volunteer at Lakepointe Church, which is located in Rockwall. According to a statement that was issued to KDFW by the church, the alleged abuse did not take place at a church function or on the grounds of the church.
We were informed last week that one of our volunteer youth workers was arrested for illegal sexual contact with a minor. While it is our current understanding that no inappropriate activity occurred on church premises, at any church event, and that the minor involved was not under the direct leadership of the volunteer, out of an abundance of caution we immediately informed Lakepointe parents, restricted the volunteer from any access to minors at the church and removed her from her volunteer position.
