Confirmed: $120 Per Child Available for Families on SNAP or Medicaid

• The family receives assistance through Medicaid (in states that participate), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), FDPIR (Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations), or SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).
• The family meets the income requirements, and the child attends a school that offers the School Breakfast Program or the National School Lunch Program.

What is the purpose of Sun Bucks funds?

Food items that can be purchased with Sun Bucks money include fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, breads, cereals, food snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Some things, however, are prohibited: pet food, cleaning supplies or domestic goods, personal hygiene products (such as toothpaste, shampoo, etc.), medication, and hot prepared foods (such as fast food within the store).

When will the money be sent to you?

The $120 for each eligible child will be automatically applied to your EBT card if you or your family are currently enrolled in SNAP.

The EBT card functions similarly to a grocery shop debit card. The government will issue you a new EBT card so you can use the funds at authorized retailers if you are eligible for Sun Bucks but not SNAP.

Each state has a distinct payment date. While some governments will begin paying later, others have already begun since May.

SNAP program modifications: new law

The One Big Beautiful Bill is a new law that was recently passed by the federal government. The SNAP program will undergo significant modifications as a result of this bill. For instance:

• Because SNAP will have less funding, states will have to make larger payments to continue providing assistance to families.
