A crash on U.S. 30 near the St. Johns Bridge killed an SUV’s driver and injured the passenger on Monday, police said.
The SUV smashed into the back of a “stopped or slowing” semi-trailer truck at about 7:20 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest St. Helens Road (U.S. 30) and Bridge Avenue, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
The driver and passenger of the SUV were taken to a nearby hospital, where the driver died “due to her injuries,” police said. The driver’s name has not been released.
The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers, police said.
