Because of a catastrophic collision that occurred on Thursday afternoon, Route 8 South in Naugatuck was placed under closure.
According to the state police, there were accounts of injuries being reported.
The accident took place close to exit 25B in the Naugatuck area.
The traffic that was being rerouted off Route 8 was generating substantial congestion in the areas of Bridge Street and North Church Street, according to the Naugatuck police department in Connecticut.
As of late, Route 8 has been reopened.
