The destiny of the man who killed his coworker at Dave’s Killer Bread in Oregon because he was under the impression that the coworker may have sexually abused his girlfriend has been revealed, and the girlfriend has also been informed of his fate.
Cody James Denewith, 27, was sentenced to slightly over 27 years in jail for the murder of his coworker, Nathan Dean Anderson, 25, whom he shot and murdered in 2024, according to a press release issued by Clackamas County. The district attorney for the county made the announcement in a press release. They worked for a company that is known as a “second chance” employer because it actively supports the hiring of persons with criminal past who are looking to turn their lives around after serving time in prison.
According to the district attorney, Denewith’s motivation was anger, which was motivated by his suspicion that Anderson had probably sexually abused his girlfriend, Dominique Marie Britt, who is 27 years old.
When Britt made the accusation against Anderson, Denewith gave the impression that he intended to kill him, and Britt was the one who took the initiative to carry out the murder.
According to the District Attorney, Denewith was arrested for domestic abuse a few days prior to the shooting that took place on April 29, 2024, and he was incarcerated for a brief period of time. A spokeswoman from the District Attorney’s office who talked with Law & Crime stated that Britt allegedly attended a gathering during that time period that also included Anderson, and that she became intoxicated because of her presence at the gathering.
As soon as Denewith got back to his house, Britt made the accusation that Anderson might have “sexually assaulted” her at the gathering. This accusation caused Denewith to become extremely angry. The district attorney claims that Denewith got “fixated” on “getting revenge” and that he was “consumed by the belief that it had happened.”
There was never any evidence to support Britt’s assertion.
The fury that Denewith felt compelled him to make an effort to persuade various members of his family to assist him in escaping Anderson. To Britt, he made it apparent that he intended to conduct the act of violence three days before it actually occurred. During the day of the shooting, he requested that Britt pack his clothes along with his “toy,” which was a code word that the couple used to refer to Denewith’s Sig Sauer P365 handgun on the day of the shooting.
The district attorney stated that Britt cooperated with his instruction intentionally, fully aware that he planned to kill Anderson the individual.
During the day of the shooting, Denewith fired three rounds into Anderson during the incident. After being transported to a neighboring hospital, he ultimately passed away as a result of his injuries.
In December of 2024, Britt entered a guilty plea to the charges of having committed manslaughter in the first degree and unlawfully using a weapon. She was given a sentence of twelve and a half years in jail.
The charges of manslaughter in the first degree and assault in the first degree with a firearm were brought against Denewith on April 14, and he entered a guilty plea. It was decided that he would serve a total of 27 and a half years in prison.
