REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A 66-year-old woman, Antonia Walton of Rehoboth Beach, was killed Monday morning after being hit by a truck in the Walmart parking lot on Rehoboth Mall Boulevard, Delaware State Police reported.
At around 7:58 a.m., DSP responded to an accident in the Walmart parking lot. DSP verified that a Dodge Ram was backing onto the sidewalk to load mulch when it collided with the woman, who was standing behind the truck to help guide the driver.
According to investigators, Walton was pinned against the building and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 76-year-old man from Rehoboth Beach, was unharmed, according to authorities.
Another person was struck and killed in the Weis parking lot in Lewes. Debbie Priddy was strolling in the parking lot when a black Jeep Grand Cherokee hit her.

Jane Shipley, who uses the Rehoboth Mall Boulevard parking lot, says the problem is not limited to that location.
“There’s a terrifying driving scene down here. I haven’t been here very long, but gosh, I’ve seen a lot of accidents and near-accidents,” Shipley remarked. “And I’m nervous about the summer because I’m sure is going to be a lot worse then.”
Peggy Carmine utilizes the parking lot with the Weis in Lewes and says she feels frightened walking through it.
“I think they’re not paying attention,” Carmine added. “They’re in too much of a hurry and not doing what they need to be doing: slowing down.”
