Dear Abby: Woman’s constant harping at her husband has neighbor thinking of ghosting them both

Greetings, Abby I am a man who is widowed. Although my neighbors are wonderful, I’m becoming more and more disturbed by this situation: One couple’s woman continuously berates her husband in front of me and the other neighbors.

The jabs are continual, but the problems are minor. In my experience, arguments between couples do not always occur in such a public manner. The husband looks upset, angry, or both in response, but he doesn’t say anything.

After ten years of friendship, I’m beginning to remove myself from this couple because I don’t want to put up with her constant petty tirades. Should I speak to her in private? To him? What should I say if I do? Or should I keep my mouth shut? Ghosting someone without providing an explanation seems inappropriate. I’m sick of listening to it in Texas.

HI TIRED: Don’t abandon the relationship without giving them a reason. Inform the husband that you would like to interact with him outside of his wife’s presence. (Only the men.) Maybe he would like it. Tell your wife the truth if she questions why you aren’t around anymore, which she most likely won’t.
