Oregon City, Oregon – Beaverton police say they made an arrest Monday night after a video of a blue Kia driver who seemed to “intentionally” sideswipe a motorcycle early Monday morning led to a lot of tips from the public.
Driver hit and ran a red light at 6:15 a.m. on Hwy 26 between Hwy 217 and Cedar Hills Boulevard. Dash cam film shows that the Kia driver then sped off down the highway, and police began a public search.
The driver has been named as Samir Helio Pazzoto-Filho by the police. According to court records, he is being charged with second-degree attack, illegal use of a weapon, and failing to do his job as a driver to help people who were hurt. He has been told to show up in court on Tuesday afternoon.
It was a young man in his 20s riding a motorbike who fell 250 feet on his stomach. The road tore up his clothes. In the crash, the gear switch went through his steel-toed boot and his helmet cracked.
Patrick, his mother, who did not want to be named, said, “There’s no steel toe left.” “It’s cracked, but the helmet kept him alive.”
The video only shows a part of the story, though. Before the dashcam caught the motorbike and Kia, Patsy said the driver tried to run her son off the road several times as he rode to work.
Aside from that, she said that her son had hit the Kia driver and been pushed off the road right after.
“I want to throw up because someone turned into my son on purpose and ran him off the road,” Patsy told KOIN 6 News. “What he did could have killed my son.”
Authorities say that Pazzoto-Filho may have killed more people.
PPB says, “It’s important to note that his car had Florida license plates.” “We want to know if anyone else saw him driving carelessly during this or any other event.”
