Officials and missed calls continue to be one of the biggest stories in college basketball this season and the Duke Blue Devils benefited from both…again.
Late in Duke’s win vs. Florida State, Matthew Hurt committed three violations on one play. However, Florida State was whistled for the foul.
Hurt held the Florida State player with both arms to prevent him from grabbing the rebound. After Hurt comes down with the rebound, he swings an elbow into the Florida State player. The official said the FSU player was in Hurt’s cylinder and called a foul.
Even if the foul calls were missed, Hurt actually traveled by falling to the ground. Instead, Duke shot two free throws and walked away with another win.
Had that been Kentucky or anyone else, we all know the play would’ve been reviewed and called a Flagrant 1 foul.
This was a foul on Florida State? Seems like 2 fouls on Duke. pic.twitter.com/KI8i5QNlJd

On the Florida State foul that put Matthew Hurt to the FT line.
If anything it is a charge on Hurt. FSU defender never stepped into his space or cylinder. Defender had legal guarding position. Hurt created the contact.— Paul Biancardi (@PaulBiancardi) February 11, 2020
