'Elaborate Plan to Frame': Man Allegedly Murders Woman, Uses Facebook Video to Mislead Police

Indiana police say the real killer made a “elaborate plan to frame” the victim’s boyfriend, which included making fake social media accounts and sending out videos of her body. As a result, the innocent man spent about 10 days in jail for a murder he did not commit.

In a Facebook post, the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office said that on April 15, police were called to a home on Hickory Drive in Hanover, Indiana, to do a safety check on 35-year-old Wilma Gayle Robertson. Hanover is in the southeast of the Hoosier state, close to the borders with Kentucky and Ohio. When they got there, Robertson was already dead from being stabbed in the back.

Shawn Bailey, 33, of Louisville was arrested later that same day for murder. It looked like Bailey had strong proof because he admitted to the crime and had a video of Robertson’s body. An arrest warrant for Bailey was obtained by Law&Crime. It says that Robertson’s ex-husband’s woman got a Facebook friend request from a user with the name “Shawn Bailey.”

Two texts were sent to the woman by “Shawn Bailey.” The first was a 5-second video that supposedly showed Robertson lying dead on the ground while Chris Brown’s song “Stutter” played in the background. The words said, “Got me high because you really f—k my head up.”

She is said to have written in the second message, “Tell her babe daddy that he doesn’t have to worry about her anymore and my bad for me and him getting into this b— me and him both got the same last name I did him a solid favor.”

Later, though, DNA proof ruled out the real Bailey as a suspect in the crime. Instead, they say Nigel Thomas, 34, of Oxford, Ohio, who goes by the name “Nati Bang,” is the real killer.

Jefferson County Prosecutor David Sutter says that after stabbing Robertson, Thomas “engaged in an elaborate plan to frame” Bailey. This included making multiple social media accounts that seemed to be Bailey admitting to the murder.

On Friday, police nabbed Thomas but dropped the charges against Bailey and let him go. Thomas’ arrest affidavit was not available, and prosecutors did not say why he did what he did or give any information about his connection with Robertson.

“In the end, the criminal justice system is a search for the truth.” “Many law enforcement agencies in three states worked nonstop to follow up on all leads in the case to find out what Nigel Thomas did and clear Shawn Bailey,” Sutter said.

Thomas is in jail in Ohio right now while he waits to be sent back to Indiana.

Robertson’s obituary says that she was known to share videos on social media that were meant to inspire and support her followers. It was her job as a certified nurse assistant when she had two kids.
