Elementary Students Learn Broadcasting Skills at South Allegheny

Students at South Allegheny Elementary School in Port Vue are enjoying the opportunity to gain an understanding of the field of broadcasting as a result of the establishment of a production studio and curriculum at the school.

On Wednesday, Lindsay Ward of KDKA was given a tour of the production studio, which is where dozens of students are now learning about the various aspects of broadcasting that are involved.

Students in the fourth and fifth grades are the target audience for the studio, which has been operating for a few months now. Students have the opportunity to learn how to become directors, producers, editors, anchors, reporters, and even weather forecasters.

There were approximately seventy students who signed up for the program.

According to Jennifer Rea, who teaches video production at South Allegheny Elementary School, “They were just so eager to learn this.” “Ever since I was a youngster, I’ve had the desire to accomplish something like this. Therefore, the fact that I am able to learn about this, put it into practice, and bring it to life for them is precisely what they require. Additionally, they are extremely capable and have been nothing short of rock stars for the entirety of this tournament.

According to Rea, she believes that it is essential to assist in the process of instilling confidence in children at a young age. Additionally, she believes that this helps to create a pleasant environment inside the school for the children.

“The kids are so kind to each other and so helpful,” Rea stated in response. It also includes the aspect of public speaking. The creative aspect. All of this is just incredible, and I am very proud that we are able to accomplish this.

Furthermore, the students, the most of whom are approximately eight years old, have their very own podcast and are also involved in commercial work.
