For an 81-year-old restaurant, RingSide has a lot more experience being open than it does being closed.
But five years ago, the West Burnside Street steakhouse started a sensation — and caused a
miles-long traffic jam
— when it offered its dry-aged steaks to-go
for the very first time
.
Next month, RingSide will revive its steak sale for one day only. The restaurant, which remains closed after
an April kitchen fire
that caused
”significant” damage
, will sell cases of frozen ribeye steaks, including some aged 35 days, on Saturday, June 14, just in time for Father’s Day.
After the gridlock caused by the initial 2020 event,
RingSide began designating a pickup window for customers
during subsequent sales. The same system will be used next month.
But when will RingSide actually reopen
? As co-owner Craig Peterson told the newspaper last month, it could be
sooner than originally expected
. After looking over the damage, mitigation experts predicted that renovations could be wrapped as soon as July. While
reservations for the restaurant are listed on OpenTable.com starting on July 6
, a spokesperson for RingSide said most of that month could be removed later this week.
