As a
fire in the Columbia River Gorge
continues to spread, forcing evacuations, firefighters have halted the growth of a
fire in central Oregon,
the 750-acre Sunnyside fire on the east side of the Warm Springs Reservation, officials say.
The Sunnyside fire — which started Saturday morning — is 80% contained as of Thursday morning, according to the Oregon Department of Forestry.
Multiple ground crews, fire engines and multiple aircraft battled the blaze through the week, and fire officials for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs said on Monday that they no longer needed air support.
