Enormous ships
that visited the Portland waterfront for the Portland Rose Festival’s Fleet Week
are leaving on Monday. That means the county will
have to raise bridges
to let the ships out, affecting commuters who plan to cross the Willamette River on Monday morning.
The Broadway, Steel and Burnside bridges will be lifted for ships as they leave between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Monday, TriMet said in a news release.
Bus lines that typically cross those bridges will be diverted. MAX and Portland Streetcar service will be disrupted. TriMet will run shuttle buses across the river to make up for MAX service while the Steel Bridge is raised. (
