Former Wildcat Zack Brown improving with each start

Wisconsin Rattlers starting pitcher Zack Brown is in the midst of an impressive ten game streak on the mound.

Brown, a 6-1, RHP from Seymour, IN., has started 16 games for the Rattlers, the Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The right handers overall numbers on the season are impressive, but it’s hard to find a pitcher having more success over the last seven weeks.

Brown has been on a tear for the Rattlers, allowing two earned runs or less in each of his last ten games. Brown has only factored into the decision on three occasions dating back to June 6th, but lack of run support has been the reason.

Over his last ten outings, Brown has posted a 2.06 ERA, to go along with a 2-1 record. Opposing hitters have managed only 44 hits, while striking out 49 times over the last 52.1 innings he’s pitched. Brown’s best outing of the streak came in his most recent game vs. West Michigan, where he tossed 6.1 scoreless innings, while only giving up two hits and striking out four.

Brown’s season ERA was 5.96 following a start on June 6th. During this impressive streak, Brown has watched his ERA plummet to 3.27 on the season.

For the season, Brown has posted a 4-4 record through 74.1 innings. He has held opponents to a .253 average, while only giving up four round trippers on the season.

Brown spent three seasons in Lexington, before being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 5th round of the 2016 MLB Draft. His most successful season with the Wildcats came in 2015, where he posted a 6-6 record and 3.48 ERA.

Brown will get better as he gains more experience on the mound, but through 17 career starts, there is not doubt he is on the right track.
