The 2025 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships got underway in Eugene on Wednesday afternoon, with the men taking to Hayward Field first.
For the home town
Oregon Ducks
, the 800-meter semifinals were a highlight of the day. Freshman Koitatoi Kidali finishing second in one minute, 45.31 seconds and senior Matthew Erickson finishing fourth in 1:45.89 as both qualified for Friday’s finals.
Simeon Birnbaum was also one of the standout performers, qualifying for the finals of the men’s 1,500-meter race after finishing second in the qualifiers in 3:41.77 seconds.
