‘Grace and Frankie’ star to attend NW premiere of Oregon-filmed thriller. Here’s how to see it

Last year, a

movie filming on the Oregon coast

was inspiring curiosity among locals, with a report in the

Oregon Coast Beach Connection

describing what was going on as “all very secret and maybe a little intriguing.”

Eventually, it was revealed that the project filming in and around Pacific City was a horror movie, titled

“Alma & the Wolf,”

and it starred

Ethan Embry,

whose credits include “That Thing You Do!” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Grace and Frankie,” and

Li Jun Li

, who has appeared in “Sinners,” “Babylon,” and more.

Now, viewers will have a chance to see “Alma & the Wolf,” which makes its Northwest premiere Wednesday, June 11, at

the Hollywood Theatre.

Embry will be attending for a question-and-answer session to follow the screening, which also kicks off the 10th annual

Portland Horror Film Festival.

In an announcement, “Alma & the Wolf” is described as a “fever dream” of psychological horror, directed by Michael Patrick Jann (“Organ Trail,” “Drop Dead Gorgeous”).

The plot? Here’s what the announcement says: “After a violent animal attack, paranoia spreads through Spiral Creek. But when Deputy Ren Accord gets too close, his son vanishes, and reality begins to fracture. Filmed on the Oregon coast, ‘Alma & the Wolf’ is a fantastical fusion of folk horror and thriller, fueled by psychedelic visuals and fever-dream imagery.”

Embry plays the character of Deputy Ren Accord, and Li plays Alma.
